“THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE!” (8 p.m., NBC): The hills will be alive with the sounds of Carrie Underwood, Stephen Moyer and Audra McDonald in this daringly ambitious live version of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein stage classic. The Oscar and Emmy-winning producing team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (“Smash,” “Chicago”) oversee the project, which has Underwood playing Maria and belting out timeless tunes such as “My Favorite Things” and “Do-Re-Mi.”

“Glee” (9 p.m., Fox): In the holiday-themed midseason finale of “Glee,” Rachel, Santana and Kurt get elfish when they score jobs working for a mall Santa.
