A woman and her former boyfriend were indicted Monday in the death of her toddler whose remains were found three months ago after a summerlong search for the girl.
A grand jury indicted the mother, Angela Steinfurth, on a murder charge while the former boyfriend, Steven King II, was indicted on charges of aggravated murder, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.
Both have been in jail since the summer on charges of obstruction after 19-month-old Elaina Steinfurth was reported missing in early June.
Authorities searched homes, buildings and the Maumee River for any sign of Elaina while volunteers looked through neighborhoods and parks. The girl’s remains were found in September inside a box in the rafters of a garage that belongs to King’s family.
