Ohio tax official: Businesses that overpaid get refunds

COLUMBUS

Ohio Tax Commissioner Joe Testa announced that businesses will receive refunds for tax overpayments as a part of an effort by Gov. John Kasich to address a policy that left businesses in the dark when they submitted too much in tax payments.

According to the policy, the state would not issue a refund unless a business sought one, and for years, the tax department did not contact businesses about possible refunds, Inspector General Randall Meyer said.

Businesses may request a refund by contacting the tax department or by visiting www.tax.ohio.gov.
