AKRON

An Ohio zoo has a naming contest for its two new coyotes.

The brother and sister coyotes at the Akron Zoo were born April 13 in Logan, Utah, in a U.S. Department of Agriculture facility.

The online naming contest continues through Monday. Zoo staff members have chosen options with Native American origins.

The Akron Beacon Journal says the coyotes have been acclimating to their surroundings in private.

The coyotes will hold court in an exhibit next door to red wolves.

Possible names for the male are Dasan meaning “chief” and Shilah meaning “brother.”

Female choices are Adany meaning “timber” or “woods” and Kaliska for “coyote chasing deer.”
