Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, will welcome the Rev. Orinda W. Hawkins-Brinkley as interim pastor during a service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Ms. Hawkins- Brinkley, known to many as Pastor O, earned a registered- nurse degree from Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree from Oral Robers University in Tulsa, Okla., and a master of divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus.
She has served as a preacher, teacher, healing groups’ facilitator and retreat leader.
A reception with light refreshments will follow worship.
Lectures on Mary

Walsh University’s Theology Division will present a series of public lectures on Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Sessions will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and continue through Oct. 16.
The free lectures, part of Walsh’s Lifelong Learning Academy, will explore historical, ecumenical and inter-religious themes centered around Mary, the Blessed Mother.
The series is recognized by the Dioceses of Youngstown and Cleveland for religious education credit.

Anniversary event

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will sponsor a wedding anniversary celebration honoring diocesan couples who are observing their 25th, 40th, 50th or more anniversaries this year.
Mass will be celebrated by Bishop George V. Murry at 2 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton. Couples will renew their marriage vows and receive a personalized certificate signed by Bishop Murry. A reception hosted by St. John Parish will be in the school hall for the couples and their families.
Couples planning to attend should register at their parishes by Sept. 13.
