POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Aug. 25
Arrest: Police responding to a domestic situation charged 24-year-old John M. Lester Jr., 31 Gordon Ave., Girard, with disorderly conduct when, they said, Lester continued to yell profanities at a family member, then refused to calm down and cooperate with authorities.
Vandalism: A truck on North State Street was found with all of its tires punctured. The damage estimate was $1,000.
Criminal damaging: Someone near West Liberty Street broke a car’s windows and windshield, slit the tires did other damage, for a $1,000 damage estimate.
Aug. 26
Trespassing: Charges were pending against two men after officers responded to reports of gunfire near North Broadway Avenue. The men were found on property adjacent to a set of railroad tracks nearby, a report said.
Theft: An East Liberty Street man discovered a $50 air compressor missing from his car.
Breaking and entering: An officer on routine patrol noticed a vacant East Broadway Avenue home’s front door ajar and, upon further investigation, saw that someone had tried to enter through a rear door.
Aug. 27
Theft: A $104, 18-speed bicycle was stolen in the 200 block of South Davis Street.
Theft: A Washington Avenue man saw that $40 was removed from his wallet.
Criminal damaging: Someone did an estimated $9,000 in damage to a vehicle in the 200 block of East Liberty Street. A brick was thrown through the front windshield and all of the tires were slashed.
Aggravated menacing: An Ella Street woman told police her boyfriend received three disturbing text messages in which he was threatened with serious bodily harm.
Aug. 28
Criminal mischief: Someone broke six glass blocks in a men’s restroom at Tod Park near U.S. Route 422.
LIBERTY
Aug. 21
Drugs: Authorities responded to a vehicular accident in the 4400 block of Logan Avenue, where they charged 27-year-old George Clark, 6 Garfield St., West Middlesex, Pa., with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. A nylon case with a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and a spoon with burn marks common to heroin use were found, police said.
Assault: An Oakland Drive woman alleged another woman struck her face, dragged her by the hair and bit her finger during an argument. The woman told police the accuser smacked her face and grabbed her neck.
Theft: A Stonington Drive man accused a family member of stealing an $800 amplifier from him.
Menacing: A Girard woman told officers her husband angrily hit her vehicle’s passenger-side window and punched the car, causing a small dent, during an argument that started when the accuser dropped off her daughter at his Anderson-Morris Road residence.
Criminal damaging: A woman returned from vacation to her Warner Road home and saw a damaged fireplace and sliding-glass door, as well as a dented hot-tub cover. Damage came to about $700.
Aug. 22
Theft: A Colonial Drive boy reported a $300 iPod device missing.
Arrest: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue resulted in 36-year-old Gregory A. Horne’s arrest after police discovered Horne, of 646 Delaware Ave., Warren, was wanted on a warrant from that city.
Aug. 23
Arrest: Youngstown police handed 29-year-old Justyn Young to township authorities. Young, of 245 Fairgreen Ave., Liberty, was accused of failing to appear in court.
Domestic violence: Police at a Motor Inn Drive motel charged a 14-year-old Girard boy with the crime after his mother alleged the teen had kicked and punched his younger brother after becoming unruly.
Harassment: A Logan Way woman said a Youngstown man sent her a series of unwanted text messages.
Burglary: To a Logangate Road apartment, from which silverware, a pair of sandals and $130 were taken.
Aug. 24
Drugs: Two township boys, 16 and 17, faced weapons- and drug-related charges after police pulled them over on Belmont Avenue and said a bag containing six smaller bags of suspected marijuana packaged for sale, and a set of brass knuckles were found. Charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors and complicity was 19-year-old Andre K. Williams, 149 Wirt St., Youngstown.
Drugs: Authorities near the Liberty Plaza pulled over and took into custody 37-year-old Paul V. Dzaja, 2042 Spangler Road, Hermitage, Pa., on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and dangerous drugs. Five syringes and 16 pills in a container with no label were found, a report said.
Assault: Officers answered a disturbance call on Mount Everett Road before charging Thomas Robinson, 39, of 1411 Mount Everett, Liberty, with assault, aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a woman alleged he had punched her face and threatened to kill her during an argument about washing a dog. The woman suffered swelling to her eyes and was holding a clump of her hair, and Robinson refused to calm down, a report showed.
Arrest: Police took into custody 54-year-old Louis G. Dellimuti, no address listed, during a traffic stop on state Route 193. He was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.
Aug. 25
Drugs: Authorities on state Route 193 pulled over 20-year-old Dominick V. Chicase and charged him with drug abuse after saying a police dog revealed Chicase, of 2277 Selma Ave., Liberty, had 2 grams of suspected marijuana in his possession.
Aug. 26
Theft: Charges were pending against a Youngstown woman, 28, and a Mineral Ridge man, 30, after more than $3,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.
Fraud: An employee with Falcon Trucking Inc., 4944 Belmont Ave., told police the business was defrauded of an undisclosed sum of money as part of a towing scam.
Aug. 27
Drugs/weapon: An officer at a Belmont Avenue gas station who noticed a customer with a gun in his pocket detained Maurice Anderson of 245 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Girard, then charged the 30-year-old man with carrying a concealed weapon, being a convicted felon with a firearm, trafficking in drugs and possession of heroin and dangerous drugs. Found were a brown powder that tested positive for heroin, three tablets in tin foil and a .38-caliber firearm that was sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation for analysis, a report showed.
Aug. 28
Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail arrested Kamala Belton, 21, of 123 Monroe St., Campbell, on a township warrant.
