Poland junior Austin Wilson returns a punt while junior teammate Jake Hawkins tries to block a Marlington defender during Thursday night’s game at Poland High School. The Bulldogs won, 35-14.

Staff report

The Poland student section, cloaked in swimwear, came prepared for a washout of visiting Marlington and their Bulldogs responded with a 35-14 triumph at Dave Pavlansky Field on Thursday night.

In the 85th meeting between the Struthers Wildcats and Campbell Memorial Red Devils, the Wildcats’ 39-6 win gave them control of the “Steel Helmet” trophy for the eighth time in a decade.

Niles spoiled Girard’s unveiling of its new logo and helmet design in a convincing 38-19 road victory as Red Dragon fans invaded Arrowhead Stadium.

Until ’02, tradition held that the losing team’s parents in the Leetonia- Lisbon rivalry had to serve a dish of pasta to the winners. The spaghetti bowl will find its way back to Lisbon this year after a 13-12 win.
