No charges in slaying after alleged break-in

FRACKVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say no charges will be filed in the death of a man shot by a homeowner after he allegedly broke into a central Pennsylvania home over the weekend.

State police in Schuylkill County say 18-year-old Zachary Foster was killed in the East Brunswick Township home just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said the 49-year-old homeowner saw evidence of the break-in as he pulled up to his home and took a gun from the vehicle when he went to investigate. Police said a struggle ensued and Foster was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.

District Attorney Karen Byrnes-Noon told the (Pottsville) Republican-Herald on Thursday that investigators reviewed home security video footage and 911 tapes before deciding that no charges would be filed.
