Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

“50 Shades! The Musical,” a parody of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy of novels, will come to Powers Auditorium on Oct. 5 for a 7:30 p.m. performance.

Tickets start at $25 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at at the Powers box office, by phone at 330-744-0264, and online at youngstownsymphony.com.

“50 Shades! The Musical” is the original parody of the best-selling and risque novels, which has sold more than 32 million copies in the United States.

The musical is sexy and hilarious spoof of the story.

It opens with a ladies book club deciding to read “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Through their interpretation of the novel, the audience is led on a humorous roller coaster ride through the unlikely bestseller.

The show is full of dance numbers, and features 11 original songs — including “They Get Nasty” — and a live band.

Like the book series, “50 Shades! The Musical” is not for those under age 18 but does not cross boundaries that would make general audiences squirm.
