POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 20

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Yeo Farms, 2704 Bedford Road, via the front door before taking a battery and a battery charger. The loss came to $500.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 21

Misuse of a credit card: A Columbiana woman at a Market Street bank discovered her credit card had been used without permission to make a $238 online purchase.

Arrest: A disturbance at a Boardman-Canfield Road store led to the arrest of 52-year-old Keith L. Black, 24 W. Laclede Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Menacing: A manager with a township towing company reported a former employee threatened to harm him after he had terminated the worker.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant home in the 4700 block of South Avenue and broke a window.

Theft of services: A man told police someone over a two-month period has been placing garbage without permission in a trash bin that belongs to a business in the 100 block of West Western Reserve Road.

Theft: A $400 bicycle was taken from a yard in the 100 block of Beechwood Drive.

Fraud: A Windsor Road man found a fraudulent $600 payment to his account.

Theft: Jason J. Thomas, 32, was booked at the Trumbull County jail. Thomas, of 3715 Karen Drive, Mineral Ridge, was accused of stealing roughly $557 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Arrest: A vehicle check on South Avenue resulted in 26-year-old Jasmine S. Weaver’s arrest. Weaver, of 626 Maple Ave., Boardman, was wanted on a probation-violation warrant from Niles pertaining to a theft charge.

Arrest: Authorities booked Felisita L. Tirado, 48, of 753 E. Florida Ave., Youngstown, on theft and menacing charges. Tirado was accused of stealing an $8 belt from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave., then tossing the item at and threatening an employee.

Aug. 22

Theft: A Chestnut Lane woman discovered her $200 cellphone missing.

Attempted burglary: A woman told police her former boyfriend tried to enter her apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court through a rear window before she confronted the man and he fled.

Theft: A West Boulevard woman reported a $65 vacuum cleaner missing from a closet.

Robbery: Authorities at the Trumbull County Jail arrested 26-year-old Kasmond P. Parker, 7815 Southwest Blvd., Warren, on robbery and theft charges after a loss-prevention official with Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, told officers that after a shoplifting situation, a man who he tried to detain pushed him several times, causing an injury above the accuser’s eye, before fleeing.

Theft: A West Boulevard woman discovered her daughter’s $125 bicycle was missing.

Theft: A woman noticed her $700 iPhone missing from a locker at a McClurg Road business.

Burglary: To a home in the 3900 block of Sylvia Lane via a rear door. Copper piping was stolen.

Theft: A woman stole a tanning-lotion packet from Tanfastic, 813 Boardman-Poland Road.

Burglary: Occurred in the 300 block of West Midlothian Boulevard through the front door before someone removed $5,000 worth of copper plumbing.

Burglary/assault: A South Avenue man told authorities another man broke in through an unlocked door before forcing him to the floor, dragging the accuser to a bathroom and covering his face and neck with a sheet.

Identity fraud: An Angeline Drive man discovered an unauthorized $300 charge to his debit account.

Criminal mischief: A Poland man left a business in the 40 block of McClurg Road and noticed a driver’s-side tire on his vehicle had been punctured, as well as damage to a truck-bed cover.

Identity theft: Corey P.J. Miller, 21, of 833 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, faced one felony and misdemeanor charge each of identity theft and misuse of a credit card as well as two felony receiving-stolen-property charges after a Willow Drive woman reported her wallet stolen and that a credit card was used without consent to withdraw $500 from an automated-teller machine. Also, her fiance discovered two unauthorized withdrawals, a report said.

Stolen property: Brett J. Liller, 18, of 5715 Southern Blvd., Boardman, surrendered on a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property after an Afton Avenue boy reported a $300 Xbox system stolen from his basement.

Aug. 23

Drugs: Police responded to a fight in the 100 block of Indianola Road before charging 28-year-old Troy J. Sutton, 206 14th St., Campbell, with one felony count each of crack-cocaine possession and tampering with evidence, as well as 29-year-old Derrick K. Owens, 2241 Burbank Ave., Youngstown, with one felony count of cocaine possession. Sutton tried to hide a small bag of crack cocaine in a window of the residence, a report showed.

Assault: A Youngstown man reported another man spit in his face during an argument in the 100 block of Indianola Road.

Theft: Melissa M. Cononico, 35, of 6505 St. Andrews Drive, Canfield, was charged with stealing about $436 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Attempted assault: James Markos, 69, of 8018 Spartan Drive, Boardman, surrendered on an attempted-assault charge after a township man reported a driver on U.S. Route 224 cut him off in traffic, then got out of his vehicle and tried to punch the accuser multiple times.

Theft: A man stole a pack of cigarettes from Walmart.

Domestic violence: A traffic stop in the 5000 block of Market Street resulted in the arrest of Garell T. Williams of 1582 Second St., Youngstown, on a warrant accusing the 21-year-old man of failing to appear in court on a domestic-violence charge.

Theft: Samantha L. Gonzalez, 22, and Blanca I. Deleon, 40, both of 3704 Hillman St., Youngstown, were charged in the theft of about $300 worth of clothing and other items from Walmart. Both also were wanted on theft warrants.

Attempted burglary: A man in a red shirt on a bicycle reportedly tried to break into a residence in the 4000 block of Hudson Drive.

Assault: A construction worker near Huntington Drive told police a driver pushed him to the ground during a confrontation that resulted after the motorist reportedly sped through a construction zone and nearly struck a flagger.

Menacing: A worker for a Market Street hair salon said a woman threatened to harm her.

Attempted fraud: A Forest Ridge Drive woman reported a caller from Washington, D.C., claimed she had won $7,500 but first needed to send a $250 fee to accept the prize.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported $400 stolen while in the 7000 block of Paxton Road.

Theft: Seven men left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, and failed to pay their $73.46 food bill.

Aug. 24

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 100 block of Terrace Drive and removed two 20-inch bicycles.

Theft: A man in his 40s took six boxes of condoms from Walgreens Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Harassment: A Stadium Drive woman reported a caller from Florida claiming to represent a charity for police asked for money.

Menacing: A neighbor noticed a man in a dark, hooded sweat shirt peering in a Carter Circle woman’s bedroom window as she slept.

Stolen property: Kenneth E. Britt, 39, of 561 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, faced a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property after an $18 polo shirt was stolen from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Aug. 25

Vehicular pursuit: Police near Boardman-Canfield Road tried to pull over a Dodge Charger before the driver reportedly ran a red light and led them on a chase on Hitchcock Road that exceeded 100 mph. The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons, a report stated.

Theft: A 17-year-old New Castle, Pa., boy was charged with stealing three T-shirts and a pair of undergarments from Macy’s.

Assault: A Shields Road woman reported a man pushed her to the ground, causing a scrape to her knee, during a heated argument. The man told police she had grabbed his throat.

Assault: Two women in the 6300 block of South Avenue reported having been struck in the head and face.

Identity fraud: An elderly Glenwood Avenue couple told officers two banks informed them that someone had tried to request new bank cards in the accusers’ names.

Theft: Two Youngstown girls, age 11 and 13, were accused of stealing $8 worth of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave., before being released to the custody of family members.

Domestic violence: Joseph Gonzalez, 33, of 7035 Paxton Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Gonzalez had choked her and torn a necklace from her during an argument.

Criminal mischief: Someone placed raw meat on rafter boards at an apartment complex in the 20 block of Arlene Avenue.

Dog bite: A Paxton Road man was treated for a minor injury after reporting a stray dog had bitten his face.

Burglary: Took place at a vacant Jeannelynn Street home via a rear door, though it appeared nothing was missing.

Misuse of a credit card: An Erskine Avenue man noticed 11 unauthorized credit-card transactions totaling $5,617.

Identity fraud: A Gardenwood Drive woman learned her bank-card number was used to make $1,947 worth of unauthorized charges in Georgia.

Theft: A man was detained but not charged after three food products were stolen from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St. He was issued a criminal-trespassing warning, however.
