Investigators are looking for the cause in a fire that destroyed a 352 Potomac Ave. house about 12:40 a.m. today.

Patrons from a South Avenue bar called firefighters and a police officer kicked in the front door before firefighters got there, reports said. Once inside crews found a fire on the second floor. The homeowner told firefighters she left at 8 p.m. after setting off several bug bombs but those did not appear to have caused the fire, reports said.

The homeowner went to stay with relatives. Damage is listed at $5,000, which is how much the home was estimated to be worth. No one was injured.
