Austintown trustees OK demolition of five houses

AUSTINTOWN— Township Trustees approved the demolition of five different houses at a Monday meeting.

All are single-family homes that were declared unsafe to live in. The houses at 152 North Canfield-Niles Road, 145 North Canfield-Niles Road, 682 Notre Dame Avenue, 2658 South Meridian Road and 5938 Kirk Road were approved for demolition. Also approved for demolition was an unsafe shed at 286 North Turner Road.

Also at the meeting, township Administrator Mike Dockry told a concerned resident that Idaho Road by the new Austintown schools will be paved, it is to be hoped in September.

During her remarks, Township Trustee Lisa Oles reminded residents to come out and check the Township’s display at the Canfield Fair, which starts Aug. 28.
