Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, open exercise at 8 a.m., video seminar-colors at 9:15, bingo at 10, painting class at 10:25, beginner computer class at 10:30, OSHIP social worker at 11:30 and advanced computer class at noon; Tuesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., Vets Helping Vets and bingo at 10, bridge club at 10:30, Zumba at 11, trip for lunch and movie at 11:30 and car show at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., bingo at 10, tai chi and pizza party ($3) at noon and movie matinee, “Jack the Giant Slayer,” at 12:30 p.m.; Thursday, open exercise at 8 a.m., wood carving at 9, yoga at 9:15, SOS at 9:30, intermediate computer class at 10:30, beginner crochet at 11 and monthly birthday party and an a la carte dinner and bingo at 5 p.m.; and Friday, open exercise at 8 a.m., trip to Canfield Fair at 9, bingo and discussion group at 10 and seminar on medication safety at 11:45. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. Lordstown S.C.O.P.E. Center, 1776 Salt Springs Road, has planned the following: Monday and Friday, bingo (25 cents per card) from 10:30 a.m. to noon; Tuesday and Thursday, bridge in morning and evening; Wednesday, woodcarving from 10 a.m. to noon and chair yoga from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m.; and Thursday, bridge in evening. Lunch is served Monday through Friday at noon ($3 per person). Also available is Wii bowling. Card players are needed for a variety of games including Canasta and SkipBo. Euchre players are welcome. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., has planned the following: Sept. 13, an information meeting about prescription assistance by Debbie Zador, R.N., at 10 a.m., call 330-544-3676 to register; and Sept. 19, trip to Columbiana Das Dutch Village Inn Dinner Theater. The bus will leave Niles at 10:30 a.m. and return at approximately 4:30 p.m. The cost is $55 per person. The show will be “Speakin Easy,” a musical comedy set in the heart of the roaring ’20s featuring music by George Gershwin, Cole Porter and more. The trip includes transportation, sit-down dinner and the show. Shopping at the Dutch Village Shops will be available before the show.
