City man charged in theft of OVI sign

YOUNGSTOWN

William Toth, 42, of 1694 Mahoning Ave., was charged with theft at 12:57 a.m. Saturday after officers working an OVI checkpoint on Mahoning Avenue observed him taking their OVI checkpoint sign and running off with it.

Officers caught up with him not far away and took him into custody. He was released after being issued a summons to appear in court.

Police said he took the sign after parking his car on Lakeview Avenue and walking west on Mahoning Avenue to 1716 Mahoning, where the sign was located.

Man driving ATV on sidewalk faces multiple charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Police charged a man with receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and driving under suspension after a police officer spotted him driving an all-terrain vehicle at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk on Saranac at Elm Street.

Emmanuel C. Bunkley, 32, complied with an officer who asked him to pull over at 4:54 p.m. Saturday.

The officer found marijuana in his pocket and $850 in cash, which was seized as evidence.

The ATV was reported stolen from North Jackson.

Arrests at market

WARREN

The Street Crimes Unit of the Warren Police Department conducted an investigation at the North End Market on North Park Avenue, arresting three men Thursday on drug and other charges.

Herbert Putnam, 58, of Youngstown Road Southeast, was arrested on a warrant. Daniel Villio, 55, of Margaret Avenue, Niles, was charged with cocaine possession, and Gregory Yeakel, 38, of Bonnie Brae Avenue Northeast was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
