Area Mason honored for leadership

Russell W. Gillam III was awarded the 33rd degree in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite at its annual session Aug. 20 in Washington, D.C. This degree is given for active service in Masonry and those who have been outstanding leaders in their communities.
Gillam, known as “Dusty,” is a past master of Argus Lodge 545 Free & Accepted Masons and is a knight and member of York Rite of Freemasonry in Youngstown. He also is a member of the Royal Order of Scotland and Shannon Council, Knight Masons of Ireland.
He has participated in and directed many of the degrees of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and has served as sovereign prince of Youngstown Council Princes of Jerusalem. He is orator of Mahoning Consistory.
Gillam attended Kent and Youngstown State universities. He is a real-estate title examiner.
