A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 16

Theft: A Chablis Lane man reported the theft of five checks totaling $2,250.

Criminal mischief: A Knollwood Avenue woman noticed damage to her door bell and a plastic window cover.

Aug. 20

Breaking and entering: Someone entered Yeo Farms, 2704 Bedford Road, through the front door before taking a 12-volt battery and charger.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 16

Assault: A Youngstown woman in a vehicle on U.S. Route 224 told authorities an intoxicated man in the car struck her head and face, then removed her from the vehicle and dragged her along pavement, injuring her elbow, after she refused to follow an order he had given. The accuser was taken to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown.

Theft: A West Farmington woman reported her wallet stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery.

Theft: A man stole an undetermined amount of property from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Arrest: Police at a Market Street motel took into custody 24-year-old Kelsea G. Cline of Columbus, who was wanted on Franklin County warrants charging her with seven counts of identity fraud, two of robbery and one of receiving stolen property.

Theft: Jaton L. Carter, 38, of 28 N. Fruit St., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of 10 neckties from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Officers in the 100 block of Boardman-Poland Road picked up Donald J. Myers of 6110 Market St., Boardman. The 52-year-old Myers was wanted on a Warren warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Aug. 17

Theft: Two key chains and several keys were removed from a car in the 8400 block of Market Street.

Identity fraud: A Youngstown woman at a Market Street bank discovered someone without permission had withdrawn $850 from her account.

Theft: Two 16-year-old girls, one each from Hubbard and Austintown, were charged in the theft of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall and released to the custody of their guardians.

Assault: A worker for a Southern Park Mall nail salon told police a customer grabbed her neck and tossed a cup of hot tea, striking her face and neck, after becoming angered about services received. The employee had redness to the affected areas.

Theft: Teresa M. Whitehead, 39, of 444 Catalina Ave., Youngstown, was charged with theft of about $37 worth of undergarments from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Police received information that an anti-theft device was removed without court authorization from a vehicle about to be traded in.

Aug. 18

Theft: A $50 planter was removed from a yard in the 3900 block of Kiowa Road.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her $400 cellphone missing while shopping at the Southern Park Mall.

Aggravated menacing: A Hopkins Road woman reported her former boyfriend continually threatened to kill her via calls as well as texts and Facebook messages. He also made similar threats against her best friend, the accuser told police.

Assault: Authorities received information that an Oakridge Drive man was severely beaten while in the 800 block of Terraview Drive. The man was found with blood on his head, face and torso, a report showed.

Theft: A woman reported $260, a paycheck and other items missing from her vehicle in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Employee theft: A manager of Bounce-a-Round Rentals, 6961 Southern Blvd., alleged a worker stole money on several occasions. A charge was pending against the woman.

Aug. 19

Theft: A license plate was removed from a trailer in the 50 block of Centervale Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A light pole in the 1400 block of Tori Pines Court was knocked over and spray painted.

Theft by deception: A Leighton Avenue woman reported that after making a $176 water-bill payment, the transaction never posted on her account.

Theft: A man in his early 30s stole a wristwatch from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.

Breaking and entering: Copper piping was stolen from the basement of a vacant residence in the 5100 block of South Avenue.

Misuse of a credit card: A West Boulevard man told officers a friend used the accuser’s card to make $500 worth of unauthorized automated-teller-machine withdrawals.

Theft: A man and a woman in their 20s stole roughly $39 worth of laundry detergent from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

Possible attempted theft: A Cook Avenue man whose dog had gotten loose told police he believed a Moyer Avenue man tried to take the animal. Nevertheless, the dog was returned, a report showed.

Theft: A woman discovered a bag of clothing missing from her home in the 100 block of Terrace Drive.

Theft: Niles police handed 34-year-old Richard A. Lawler to township authorities. Lawler, of 1915 Valley St., Niles, was wanted on a warrant accusing him of trying to steal a $550 vacuum cleaner from Kohl’s.

Theft: Gisella Marcoccia, 47, of Hartstown, Pa., surrendered on two misdemeanor theft counts after being accused of stealing merchandise from Walmart and Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Patricia A. Sherman of 1814 Southwoods Blvd., Warren, faced charges of theft and possession of criminal tools after a $580 laptop computer was stolen from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road. Sherman, 38, also had a pair of wire cutters, a report showed.

Drugs/weapon: A traffic stop on Southern Boulevard resulted in misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon as well as drug and marijuana possession against 43-year-old William C. Whistler, 7239 Glendale Ave., Boardman. A large wooden club with a strap, a bag of suspected marijuana and one round of ammunition were found, authorities said.

Robbery: A man stole several articles of clothing from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road before reportedly pushing and slightly injuring a loss-prevention official who tried to detain him and fleeing in a 2009 Dodge Charger vehicle.

Drug paraphernalia: Police arrested 30-year-old Kristina M. Felleti on a Trumbull County warrant and charged Felleti, of 731 Oakridge Drive, Boardman, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Six new and used needles, a spoon with suspected drug residue and a suspected crack-cocaine pipe were found, a report said.

Trespassing: A Cathy Ann Drive man reported someone continually rings his doorbell and flees.

Arrest: Steven M. Spitzer, 24, who listed Youngstown and Austintown addresses, was arrested on a probation-violation charge after having been pulled over on Southern Boulevard. Also, officers cited 20-year-old Thomas E. Emler, 430 Roxbury Ave., Youngstown, after saying a suspected marijuana pipe and a device commonly used to grind marijuana were found.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered Jim’s Brushless Car Wash Inc., 238 Boardman-Canfield Road. An undisclosed amount of money was missing.

Aug. 20

Employee theft: An undisclosed sum of money was missing from a Shell gas station, 5135 Market St., via fraudulent transactions.

Theft: A Mathews Road woman reported $1,050 worth of her deceased mother’s jewelry stolen.

Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 800 block of Cook Avenue through the front door. Stolen was a set of keys.

Theft: A man in his 60s wearing a black shirt stole about $60 worth of groceries from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.

Theft: A Cleveland man said his wallet had been taken from a vehicle in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Attempted breaking and entering: Pry marks were found on a door, presumably after someone had tried to break into a clinic in the 700 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Burglary: To a residence in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard via a kitchen window. A 60-inch TV, two laptop computers, a safe, jewelry and 75 checks were taken, for a $2,900 loss.

Assault: A township woman reported having been tossed to the ground and punched in the face while in the 70 block of Lemans Drive. She suffered swelling, a bruise and a bloody finger.

Burglary: Someone entered and ransacked a residence in the 5500 block of South Avenue, though it was unknown if anything had been stolen.

Theft: Two women stole roughly 25 pairs of glasses from Lens Crafters, 265 Boardman-Canfield Road, costing the business about $4,750.

Theft: A woman noticed six 18- milligram pills missing from her home in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive.

Breaking and entering: Someone used a key to enter through a rear door of American Beauty Landscaping, 5415 South Ave. Three 14-inch saws were stolen from a nearby trailer.

Identity theft: A Paulin Drive woman told police the Internal Revenue Service informed the accuser that her Social Security number had been used without consent to file a 2012 income-tax return claiming a $7,825 refund was due.

Theft: Two women stole two pairs of sandals from Payless Shoe Source, 48 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Kelvan P. Brown, 47, of 251 Harold Lane, Campbell, was charged with stealing a 12-inch frying pan and two other items from Walmart.

Theft: Michael T.F. Pence, 30, of 340 Hobart Road, Leavittsburg, faced charges of theft, resisting arrest and obstructing official business; John F. Russell, 20, of 851 Cook Ave., Boardman, was charged with complicity to theft and obstructing official business after a $248 home-theater system was stolen from Walmart. Russell picked up Pence before the two men led police on a vehicular and a foot pursuit, respectively, a report said.

Theft: Authorities booked 48-year-old Robert L. Roman on a theft charge. Roman, of 1947 Brownlee Ave., Poland, was accused of stealing a $29 knee strap and four other pieces of merchandise from Kmart.
