Canfield defeats Fitch

The Canfield boys golf team defeated Austintown Fitch 167-172 on Aug. 16.

Top performers for Canfield were Dom Carano (38), Jarrett Vrabel (42), Vince Leone (43) and Charles Loomis (44).

Cardinals defeat Spartans

Aug. 19 was the season opener for the Canfield High School Girls Soccer team as they travelled to a match against the Boardman Spartans.

The 2013 lady cards are led by Coach Phil Simone and senior captains Paige Bidinotto, Elena Billy, and Emma Seybert. Six additional seniors compliment the varsity roster - Kelsey Yankush, Olga Condoleone, Erin McGraw. Victoria Villano, Marisa Severino, and Kaylee Kilbert.

The match score tonight was Canfield 4-1. There were 31 shots on goal, led to two goals for senior Paige Bidinotto and one each for senior Elena Billy and junior Sophia Mancini. Elena Billy and Bailey Fischer had two assists each. Senior Goalkeeper Victoria Villano had four saves.

The JV score this evening was 1-1 tie, with a goal from Taylor Meier.

The Cards next match is against Poland at home on Wednesday August 28.

Reserved seats on sale

Canfield High School football reserved seat season tickets went on sale to the general public Aug. 19 from the high school athletic office. The cost is $48. Office hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. weekdays. Call 330-533-5341 for more information.

Canfield places second

The Canfield boys golf team placed second at the Warren JFK Invitational Aug. 10. The team scored a total of 324.

Top performers for the Cardinals were Dominic Carano (72), Vince Leone (79), Jarret Vrabel (86) and Charlie Loomis (87). Carano placed second individually.
