Jurors get instructions in attempted murder trial

YOUNGSTOWN

An attempted murder case in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court is wrapping up.

Jurors in the courtroom of Judge R. Scott Krichbaum are being instructed on the law after they listened to closing arguments in the case of 35-year-old Terrell Vaughn.

Vaughn is accused of taking part in an April 21 beating that nearly killed 41-year-old Emil Smith on an East Side street. Testimony Wednesday showed that Smith was beaten after he gave an obscene gesture to three men in an SUV behind him.

The other two men have not been arrested.

Jurors were seated Wednesday morning and heard from just three witnesses.
