Gun, drugs found on man stopped by police
YOUNGSTOWN — Police found a .45-caliber handgun in the possession of a man who was walking in the middle of a North Side street at about 10:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers were in the area of Nor wood Avenue near Ford Avenue when they spotted Andrew Whitlow, 26, holding his waistband like he had a gun.
As officers approached him, reports said he pulled the gun and the officers, who were in an unmarked car, jumped out and drew their guns and ordered Whitlow to the ground.
Whitlow obeyed and police searched him. Officers found the gun with a loaded magazine as well as a plastic container that had a large bag of marijuana and a scale.
Whitlow was taken to the Mahoning County jail for the charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in marijuana.
He is expected to be arraigned today.
