Officials probe fuel-tank explosion

TRANSFER, Pa.

Officials still are working to determine what caused a 10-thousand gallon fuel tank to explode in Pymatuning Township.

About 5:30 p.m. Monday, a fuel tank at Brownies Oil Company in the Reynolds Industrial Park caught fire and exploded, according to Vindicator news partner 21 WFMJ-TV.

Authorities say the explosion killed a man in his 30s who was working on the tank at the time, WFMJ reported.

Authorities are not yet identifying the man killed.

They say, the tank contained off-road diesel fuel, the majority of which was contained.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is working with the company to clean up the small amount that is left, WFMJ said.
