CAMPBELL
A Youngstown man who fled after a traffic stop is facing multiple charges, police said.
Jermaine Beverly, 24, of 157 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under a suspended license, having a weapon while under disability, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and a mirror-related traffic offense.
At 7:57 p.m. Saturday, a Campbell police officer was trailing a red Chevrolet Blazer traveling east on McCarney Road.
When the driver swerved while making a left turn, the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over. The driver stopped at Keystone Street and Kendis Circle and ran, according to the police report.
The officer released his K-9 officer after the suspect. The dog, Storm, was able to take down the suspect by bitting him in the left leg.
The suspect took a handgun from his pants and pointed it at Storm, according to the report. The officer running toward the disturbance ordered the suspect to drop the weapon, which he did.
Beverly was arrested without further incident and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
