Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, open exercise at 8 a.m., video seminar colors at 9:15, blood pressure checks at 9:30, bingo at 10, painting class at 10:15, beginner computer class at 10:30, OSHIP social worker at 11:30 and advanced computer class at noon; Tuesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., Vets Helping Vets and bingo at 10, bridge club at 10:30, line dancing at 11, lunch and a movie at 11:30 and car show at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., bingo at 10, jewelry-making class at 11:30, pizza party ($3) at noon and movie matinee, “The Lion King,” at 12:30 p.m.; Thursday, open exercise at 8 a.m., trip to Hartville and wood carving at 9, yoga at 9:15, SOS at 9:30, intermediate computer class at 10:30, beginner crochet at 11, and a la carte dinner and bingo at 5 p.m.; and Friday, open exercise at 8 a.m., bingo and discussion group at 10, and lunch and learn “The Sandwich Generation” at 11:30. Champion S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 445 Mahoning Ave., has planned the following: Monday, breakfast at 10:30 a.m. ($5 for members/$6.50 for nonmembers); Tuesday and Thursday, arthritis exercises ($2) at 12:30 p.m.; Tuesday-Friday, lunch ($3) at 11:15 a.m.; Wednesday, cards from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and bingo from noon to 1:30 p.m. with 50-50 drawing for bingo; Thursday, fun day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with yard sale, homemade food, raffles and entertainment featuring the Andrew Sisters and the BLT Barbershop Quartet; Friday, movie and popcorn or cornhole from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Also planned is bus trip to Mountaineer on Aug. 28, leaving at 9 a.m. and returning at 5 p.m. Cost is $25, call for reservations ASAP. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels are also involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects.
