MSWCD will host fall fish sale for local pond, lake owners

The Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District will host a fall sale of fingerling-size fish for local pond and lake owners.

Available are fathead minnows, 100 for $6; 8- to 12-inch White Amur, $14 each; 2- to 3-inch bass and 2- to 4-inch bluegill, 80 cents each; and 4- to 5-inch channel cat, 2- to 4-inch crappies, 2- to 4-inch shell crackers and 3- to 4-inch yellow perch, 85 cents each.

Orders must be received by Oct. 11. Pickup will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Junior Fair building, Coliseum 8, Canfield Fairgrounds.

On pick-up day, customers are asked to take a lined container filled with their own pond water, with 5 to 10 gallons of water per 100 fish required. White Amur must be placed in a container with a lid or liner large enough to be tied at the top, with only two White Amur placed in each 5 gallons of water.

If you are an out-of-state resident purchasing fish, restrictions will apply. Refer to the notice posted on the organization’s website, or call the office.

Conservation materials will be available for sale, including pond-safety kits, birdseed, birdhouses and bird feeders.
