MYCAP offers free computer-literacy classes

The Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership is offering free Computer Literacy Classes every week through September for Mahoning County residents who would like to learn simple, basic computer skills.

The classes are free for adults 18 and older, and are made possible through the “Every Citizen Online” Grant from Connect Ohio.

Each class teaches mouse skills and Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Windows for Beginners and Introduction to the Internet and Email Basics.

Upcoming classes include: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m.; Aug. 27, 28 and 29, 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m.; Sept. 4, 5 and 6, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.; Sept. 10, 11 and 12, 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m.; Sept. 17, 18 and 19, 10 a.m. to noon; Sept. 24, 25 and 26, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

Classes are for two hours a day for three-consecutive days a week.

Upon completion of the six-hour class, participants will have a better understanding about a computer, keyboard and how to use what they learned to obtain information.

There are a limited number of computers at the MYCAP office, 1325 Fifth Ave., so participants are asked to register in advance by calling Kim at MYCAP at 330-747-7921, ext. 1190.
