Melanie Archer and Christopher Styn, both of Louisville, Ky., are engaged, parents of the bride-to-be are announcing. She is the daughter of Daniel and Sandra Archer, and he is the son of Nicholas and Connie Styn, all of Hubbard.

Miss Archer earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ohio State University. She is employed as a registered nurse in surgical intensive care at the University of Louisville Hospital Trauma Center in Louisville.

Mr. Styn earned a degree in mechanical engineering from OSU and is a design engineer for General Electric in Louisville.

The couple plan to be married in an open ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at St. Patrick Church.

Invitations will be extended for a reception that will follow at Leo’s Banquet Hall, Howland.
