Federal authorities are accusing a former Northeast Ohio corrections officer of assaulting an inmate.
U.S. Attorney Steven Dettelbach in Cleveland announced Friday that Marlon Taylor, 47, of Vermilion, has been charged for allegedly depriving an inmate from the right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment.
Prosecutors allege Taylor on July 2012 repeatedly struck and injured the inmate at the Lorain County Jail.
Taylor’s attorney did not immediately return a request for comment.
