Police arrested a Campbell man Thursday afternoon on child-endangering and domestic-violence charges after a couple spotted him and the mother of his child wrestling over a car seat that contained their 3-day-old daughter.

Keithan Scott, 24, was arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court on Friday for the charges as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of drugs marijuana

Reports said officers were called to the parking lot of West Side Merchants, 2950 Mahoning Ave., about 4:10 p.m. for a report of a couple fighting in a parking lot.

Another couple said they saw Scott wrestling with the mother over a car seat that the baby was in, and several times as he tried to grab the seat the baby’s head was being violently jerked back and forth.

The two made it into the car along with the baby and there was punching before the mother walked away, reports said. The couple called police and then followed the mother until police got there. The mother told police she and Scott were arguing over how she fed the baby but she was vague on a lot of details, reports state.

The mother said she was kicked by Scott but that he did not break the stitches she received from giving birth, reports state. She had a small cut on her hand also, reports state.

Police went inside West Side Merchants where they found Scott and arrested him, reports said. Inside a case he was carrying was a small amount of marijuana, reports said. The mother refused to sign a domestic violence complaint against him but he was arrested anyway. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail pending his arraignment.

Scott entered pleas of not guilty at his arraignment and his bond is set at $11,500.
