Investigators are looking for the cause of a blaze that caused about $2,000 damage to a 3213 South Ave. building about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.

First crews on the scene found light smoke coming from a beauty shop on the first floor and found a fire centered on a corner of the building around a bunch of extension cords. The son of the shop’s owner said that his mother closed at 9 p.m. and he was notified by the alarm company at 11 p.m. that there was a fire.

Tenants in two upstairs apartments were out when firefighters arrived, reports said.

No one was injured.
