Columbus man indicted for robbery of Austintown woman


YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Columbus man for reportedly robbing a woman Aug. 5 in the parking lot of a Huntington Bank branch on Raccoon Road.

Davis Cochrane, 26, of Cleveland Avenue, was indicted today for the charge of aggravated robbery with a specification a firearm was used in the crime.

Police said Cochrane ran up to a woman in the parking lot and fought with her over a money bag in her hand.

The bag did not have any money in it, reports said, but a check.

The woman tried to chase Cochrane but he showed her a gun and she stopped, reports said. Two days later, he was arrested in Columbus while attempting the same type of robbery.

Police in Columbus found the bag he was accused of taking in Austintown after serving a search warrant on his car.

Township police said Cochrane was in the area for a funeral when he took the bag from the Raccoon Road bank. He is in the Franklin County jail on the robbery charge there.
