It looks like Youngstown State football player Dale Peterman may be out much longer than the two games he was already expected to miss this season with a knee injury.

The senior defensive back was arraigned Tuesday on a 2012 warrant for marijuana possession and traffic citations, and a 2013 warrant for other traffic citations.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested Peterman, 22, of Cordova Avenue in Youngstown, and troopers took him to the Trumbull County jail.

Later Tuesday he was arraigned before Judge Thomas Gysegem of Warren Municipal Court on charges of marijuana possession, speeding, driving under suspension and driving without a seat belt.

He also went Tuesday before Judge Jeff Adler of Girard Municipal Court, where he faces charges of driving under suspension, failing to display proper auto registration information and not using a proper child restraint.

In both hearings, the judges released him after he posted a $2,500 personal recognizance bond, meaning he didn’t have to pay anything.

YSU football coach Eric Wolford said Peterman has been suspended indefinitely and he will let the legal process run its course.

“Once that legal process runs its course, I will take action,” Wolford said.
