Two people from Canfield Township accused of sexually abusing a young boy were arraigned Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Jeffrey Evans, 44, pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and five counts of gross sexual imposition before Magistrate Eugene Fehr. Evans’ bond was set at $25,000.
His girlfriend, Liza Timm, 51, had posted bond before arraignment and waived her court appearance. She entered a written plea of not guilty to five counts of gross sexual imposition and five counts of child endangerment.
They both have Friday pretrial dates before Judge Lou D’Apolito and trial dates of Sept. 23.
Evans and Timm, both indicted last week, are accused of abusing the boy, Timm’s grandson, now 8, for a period of years. The boy’s father reported the abuse to authorities in March, when their investigation began.
