Charged with felonious assault, man released on bond

Eric T. Pettis, 30, of Warren, was arraigned in Warren Municipal Court Tuesday and released from the Trumbull County jail after posting $25,000 bond.

He’s charged with shooting at a 31-year-old Mississippi man at the Sunoco gas station on West Market Street July 21.

Pettis turned himself in Tuesday after Warren Municipal Court issued a warrant charging him with felonious assault.

Warren police released surveillance video of the attack to the public last week, and people viewing it through the news media contacted Warren police to identify the suspect.

A Warren police report says Pettis and two other men struck and stomped the victim at about 3:30 a.m., then one of the three fired a handgun at the victim once outside the store and once inside, but the shots missed.
