Robbery suspect in Columbus could face charges in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — Township police are preparing a case against a 26-year-old suspect, currently jailed in Columbus, after he reportedly robbed a woman at Huntington Bank on Aug. 5.

The case will be presented Thursday to a Mahoning County grand jury.

The suspect, Davis W. Cochran, 26, of Columbus, will face charges of aggravated robbery after he allegedly ran up to a woman in the parking lot of the bank on Raccoon Road and fought with her over the money bag in her hand, township police said.

The bag did not have any money in it, just a check. The woman attempted to chase after Cochran after he retrieved the bag, but then he showed her he had a gun so she stopped, police said.

Cochran was caught in Columbus two days later after he was shot by police while he attempted to commit the same robbery outside of a Fifth Third Bank.
