“Nine for IX” (8 p.m., ESPN): The latest installment in the “Nine for IX” film series is “Runner.” It recalls the story of American track star Mary Decker and her infamous run-in with Zola Budd at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

“Face Off” (9 p.m., Syfy): It’s never very pretty when special-effects makeup artists throw down, which makes “Face Off” all the more appealing. Season 5 pits newcomers against returning hopefuls.

Black is a stand-up comedian, actor and author. He came into national prominence with his appearances on “The Daily Show” in 1996, which led to comedy specials on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime and Epix. In 2001, he won the Best Male Stand-Up at the American Comedy Awards. He has released eight comedy albums, including Grammy Award-winners “The Carnegie Hall Performance” and “Stark Raving Black.” He has published three bestselling books: “Nothing’s Sacred” (Simon & Schuster, 2005), “Me of Little Faith” (Riverhead Books, 2008) and “I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas” (Riverhead Books, 2010).

Neil Diamond cabaret in gardens

Music at Madison will present “The Songs of Neil Diamond,” a cabaret-style performance at 8 p.m. Saturday in the gardens of Madison Moore, a Victorian home at 264 Madison Ave., North Side (across from Youngstown State University’s Lyden House dormitory). The sing-along evening will be led by Rodd Coonce, who will serve as host and featured performer. Tickets are $20 and include a finger food buffet at intermission.
