3rd man convicted in Pa. home invasion slaying
LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania jury has convicted a third man in a home invasion slaying a year ago.
The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era says jurors in Lancaster County needed only an hour Monday to decide that 27-year-old Stephen Harmer was guilty of second-degree murder.
Harmer closed his eyes, bowed his head and wiped tears from his eyes as the verdict was announced in the August 2012 slaying of 62-year-old Douglas Herr in Drumore Township.
Two other men, 23-year-old Kyle Wunder and 25-year-old Cody Wunder, pleaded guilty earlier and face life terms.
Defense attorney Christopher Lyden argued that Herr was alive when the robbers fled with $211,000 cash but Kyle Wunder later returned and shot him.
Lyden said his client was disappointed with the verdict and planned to appeal.
