The United Methodist Community Center is offering a Veteran Stand Down from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St. Veterans can receive free medical screenings, information on eligibility for veterans benefits,SFlbshelter and housing referrals, substance-abuse services, employment and job-training assistance, clothing and personal-care kits, legal services, counseling referrals and breakfast, lunch and a snack. YSU gets new director of Equal Opportunity

YOUNGSTOWN

Cynthia A. Kravitz, former managing attorney of the Youngstown office of the Ohio attorney general, is the new director of Equal Opportunity and Policy Compliance at Youngstown State University.Kravitz is working out of the Office of General Counsel at YSU. Among her duties are investigating claims of discrimination and harassment on campus and coordinating policy compliance on behalf of the university. Before coming to YSU, Kravitz was managing attorney and assistant attorney general-Education Section for the Office of the Ohio Attorney General.
