Mahoning County grand jury secretly indicts 13 gang members, 11 in custody

YOUNGSTOWN — Police say a Mahoning County grand last week secretly indicted 11 of 13 members of an East Side gang on drug trafficking and weapons charges and they are now in custody.

Authorities announced the indictments this afternoon at a press conference in City Council Chambers. Members of the gang dealt drugs and came to authorities’ attention because they were either victims or suspects in a series of shootings in 2012.

Members of the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force began rounding the members up this morning.
