Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a white male who was fatally struck by a vehicle about 7 p.m. Saturday on Youngstown Road Southeast near Adelaide Southeast.
The man is described as between 45 and 55 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, reddish-brown, shoulder-length hair and moustache and blue eyes. He was wearing a medium brown T-shirt, blue jeans, black tennis shoes and green cord belt with silver belt buckle. The victim also wore wire-rim reading glasses.
The police have information that the victim frequently walked in the area.

Breaking and entering

Police responded to three breaking-and-entering calls Saturday.
The owner of Open Hearth, 207 Steel St., told police someone broke into the bar between 10 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday and stole a cash register containing $800 and a .38-caliber revolver.
The person or people who broke in gained entrance through a side basement door on the north side of the bar.
At Sidley Concrete Inc., 3224 Oregon, a theft of four 12-volt “bulldog” batteries was discovered Saturday morning. The batteries, which weigh between 80 and 100 pounds each, are valued at $180 each.
A North Canton man, the owner of a house for sale in the 200 block of Matta, reported the theft of a furnace, ductwork and water heater Saturday morning. The doors and windows were still locked. There is a real-estate agent’s lock box on the door.
Traffic, drug charges

Raphael Ortiz, 33, of Cleveland is scheduled to appear in municipal court today after a traffic stop and at 12:30 a.m. Saturday for going the wrong way on Breadon Street.
He was charged with drug abuse-marijuana, driving while under suspension and a traffic violation.

Police charged Lee Bralyn, 21, of Youngstown with drug trafficking-marijuana and loud noise after a traffic stop about 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Lands-downe Blvd.
Officers heard loud noise emanating from a vehicle traveling east on Stewart approaching Lansdowne, where the vehicle turned north and a traffic stop was initiated. Police found one bag of marijuana and another bag with six individually wrapped bags of marijuana.
He was taken to Mahoning County Jail and will be in municipal court today.
Dog owner sought

A Good Samaritan in Trumbull County is trying to find the owner of a mixed-breed dog hit by a vehicle, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV. Danielle Klinesmith recently was at a friend’s house on North Park Road when she heard yelping from the road.
She said the dog can’t use his back legs and says his tail looks broken.
