Man robs Pa. bank claiming he had a bomb

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A First National Bank in Lawrence County, Pa. was robbed shortly before noon today.

The robber entered the bank and demanded money after placing a device he claimed was an explosive on the counter and threatened to detonate it, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police. The bank is located at 2353 Harlansburg Road in Hickory Township.

The man fled on foot with cash. Allegheny County Police Department bomb technicians came to the scene and determined the device was not a bomb.

The suspect is described as a white male, who was wearing a dark-colored suit coat, dress pants and a dark baseball cap with a Cleveland Indians logo. He was also described as tall with a medium build. He attempted to conceal his face by placing stockings overt it, according to the report.
