Event to honor vets

LOWELLVILLE

The Lowellville Rod and Gun Club will host a free event for the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at its club grounds, 6225 Quarry Road.

Free food and beverages, archery and shooting, bounce-arounds, canoeing and a dunk tank will be available. Fishing will be offered with bait provided, but guests are asked to bring their own pole. Prizes will be awarded.

The activities will honor all American veterans. For information, call 330-757-9020.

Unidentified man killed

Warren

Warren police are seeking to identify a man struck and killed by a motor vehicle at 7 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Youngstown Road Southeast and Adelaide Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene.

The man who was struck is white, in his late 40s to early 50s, 5-foot 9-inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has blue eyes, short light-brown hair and a mustache, but no identifying scars or tattoos. He was wearing a dark green polo shirt and jeans at the time of the incident.

16th Day of Caring

YOUNGSTOWN

United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley’s 16th annual Day of Caring and its 2013 campaign kick-off breakfast will take place at 8 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St., downtown.

After breakfast, hundreds of volunteers from local companies and organizations will head out to complete projects at local nonprofit organizations.
