Men arrested

NEWTON FALLS

The Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force recovered five grams of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia and other undetermined drugs Friday while making two arrests.

TAG was conducting surveillance on known heroin houses in Newton Falls when they observed a vehicle leaving the area with an occupant known to have felony warrants.

Police stopped the vehicle on Freedom Street, but one of the four fled on foot. The man, 21, was arrested, however, after a short foot chase.

One of the three other occupants of the car, also 21, dropped a syringe on the ground, and officers found a bag containing suspected heroin in his possession.

Both 21-year-olds were arrested, but charges are awaiting lab tests.

Drug charges

WARREN

The police department’s Street Crimes Unit charged Michael L. Green Jr., 32, of Youngstown Road in Niles with possession of crack cocaine and heroin and being a felon in possession of a firearm after his arrest late Thursday during a traffic stop.

Traffic officers stopped Green’s car because of expired license plates and found the drugs and a loaded handgun.

A judge in Warren Municipal Court entered an innocent plea for Green and set bond at $7,500.
