2013 Community Cup kicks off downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN

Festivities for the 2013 Community Cup kicked off Friday at the Central YMCA in Youngstown.

Jenifer Edwards and Suzy Mickler designed a banner on behalf of Children’s Services during the Community Cup banner competition.

Joselyn Parker of Youngstown sang the national anthem, and Community Cup Chairman John McNally lighted the torch during the opening ceremonies.

The Community Cup will take place Sept. 7, with preliminary events to take place Aug. 23-25.

The Community Cup is a program of the YMCA of Youngstown that has involved more than 80 businesses and organizations and thousands of employees participating in 16 athletic events.
