Search has found no evidence of missing Pa. baby

YORK, Pa. (AP) — Investigators say they still haven’t found a 7-month-boy kidnapped from a Philadelphia-area home by his mother’s boyfriend on Sunday.

Authorities have been searching in York and Lancaster counties for the baby, Hamza Ali. The search follows the arrest of Ummad Rushdi, the boyfriend of the child’s mother, at their home in the York suburbs Wednesday.

Police say Rushdi and the boy’s mother had been together for three weeks and were visiting family in Upper Darby. An affidavit released Thursday says Rushdi told a witness he killed the crying child by shaking him and then buried him in an undisclosed location.

Upper Darby Township Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says police have interviewed Rushdi, but that he hasn’t told them where the baby is. Rushdi’s being held on kidnapping and other charges.
