Police looking for Pa. baby find shovel, car seat
YORK, Pa. (AP) — Court documents say police looking for a missing 7-month-old boy found a shovel and car seat in the trunk of a car used by the man accused of kidnapping him.
A search warrant affidavit released today said the items were found Wednesday in the trunk of a Lincoln Continental owned by the brother of 30-year-old Ummad Rushdi.
Rushdi is jailed on charges he kidnapped Hamza Ali on Sunday from a home in Upper Darby. Police say Rushdi’s brother has told them Rushdi admitted he killed the child and buried him in an unnamed location.
Searchers returned today to the area near Columbia where the Lincoln apparently became stuck.
Upper Darby Police Chief Michael Chitwood says Rushdi, the child’s mother’s boyfriend, hasn’t told investigators where the boy is.
