'Love and Protect Our Children' event Saturday in downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Community Mobilization Coalition will host a “Love and Protect Our Children” free event Saturday in downtown Youngstown.

The coalition has partnered with “Let’s Move” and will share space on Federal Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Groups from area schools, youth groups like the Boys and Girls Club, Youngstown Flag Football, Girl Scouts, and KBC Kids will have representatives present to encourage young people to invest in education and participate in positive activities in the community that will keep them away from violence.

Local talent will also perform music, singing, dance, and spoken word to entertain crowds throughout the day.

A balloon release at 3 p.m. will honor those who have lost their lives to violence. Family members of deceased victims will be present.
