Canfield Swim Club defeats Boardman

Neighbors | Submitted .Canfield Swim Club 8 and under boys got ready to compete in the freestyle event.

Canfield Swim Club beat the Boardman Swim Team 267-229 June 26 at Boardman Swim and Tennis Club.

Triple first place winners were Madison Murphy (medley relay, freestyle and breastroke), Marissa Landers (backstroke, breastroke and the medley relay), Lauren Fitzgerald (medley relay, freestyle and butterfly), Santino Marucci (medley relay, freestyle and breastroke), Maggie Beistel (medley relay, backstroke and butterfly), Cullen Brady (backstroke, butterfly and the medley relay) and Daniel Bogen (medley relay, freestyle and backstroke).

Top performers in the medley relay were (8 and under girls) Madison Cleevely, Madison Murphy, Parker Wilkins, Madeline McCartney; (9-10 girls) Maya Marucci, Lauren Fitzgerald, Jordan Helmick, Marissa Landers; (9-10 boys) Sirin Nalluri, Danny Lyons, Luke Dietz, Jay Shindle; (11-12 girls) Riley Wilkins, Mackenzie, Hammond, Gina Landers, Elle Dawson; (11-12 boys) Jonathan Gant, Santino Marucci, Jason Paris, Bobby Kutsch; (13-14 girls) Maggie Beistel, Lexi Gaetano, Rachel Williams, Morgan Cleevely; (13-14 boys) Ilmir Stefanides, Lake Bennett, Cullen Brady, James Diet and (15-19 boys) Alec Gaetano, Kyle Anderson, Adam Weiss and Daniel Bogen.

Placing first in freestyle was Morgan Cleevely (13-14 girls). In the 50 back, top performers were Riley Wilkins (11-12 girls) and Jonathan Gant (11-12 boys). Winning the breastroke portion of the competition was Lexi Gaetano (13-14 girls), Sarah Heaven (15-19 girls) and Kyle Anderson (15-19 boys). Mallory Allen (15-19 girls) and Alec Gaetano (15-19 boys) took first in butterfly.

The Canfield free relay teams, consisting of (9-10 girls) Madison Puskar, Emma Castronova, Madison Klughart and Lily Grdic and (15-19 boys) Ben Brucoli, Matthew Bogen, Alex DiThomas and Drew Bennett, placed first.

The Canfield Swim Team is coached by Mike Barringer and assistants, Emily King and Ryan O’Malley.
