Canfield man hospitalized after Ohio Turnpike accident
MILAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a Canfield motorcyclist was seriously injured today in an accident in the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports James Allen Metzinger, 64, of Canfield was flown to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo after his 2013 Honda Goldwing sideswiped a 2005 Dodge Caravan while attempting to change lanes.
Metzinger lost control, slid off the road and was knocked from his vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet.
The patrol said several motorists stopped to help provide life-saving measures until emergency personnel could arrive. One was a doctor identified as Jonathan Schweid.
The driver of the Caravan was 25-year-old Ryan F. Knaack of Albany, N.Y. He was not injured.
Alcohol was not considered a factor in the accident, the patrol said.
