BOARDMAN

Boardman Township trustees on Friday approved two demolition companies to knock down six condemned homes.

All Demolition and Co. of Poland will knock down the homes at 78 Homestead Drive, 1769 Halbert St., 31 Shields Road, 4055 Tippecanoe Road and 1699 Nova Lane for the total cost of $16,000.

C Crump Excavating of Hubbard will knock down a home at 5022 Southern Boulevard for $3,725.

Funding from Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Moving Ohio Forward Demolition Grant will be used to bring the homes down.

“We are knocking down everything condemnable that we can get,” said Sarah Gartland, township zoning inspector.

Gartland said the township usually knocks down only one or two houses a year, but thanks to the $100,000 in grant money received, the township will knock down an estimated 18 homes. The township does have to match the funds from of the grant. Approximately $140,000 is expected to be spent on demolition.

“This is huge for us,” Gartland said.
