Ohio escapee's family asks him to surrender

COLUMBUS (AP) — Relatives of the Ohio inmate who walked away from a work assignment along Interstate 70 are asking the man to surrender.

WCMH in Columbus reports that the sister of 28-year-old Spencer Johnson says armed officers have been stationed outside her house since Monday when he escaped from a work duty picking up trash near London, Ohio.

Denise Harmon says the family is worried sick. Harmon says she hopes Johnson understands that by being at large, he will not get to see his two young children and mother again.

Johnson is a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing a state-issued khaki shirt and khaki pants. He was scheduled for release in 2015.
