Firefighters fight second blaze at former library

For the second time in less than a month, firefighters Wednesday fought a blaze at the former East Side branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
Crews were called about 10:30 p.m. to the 6 N. Jackson St. building, and found fire in the corner of the building and in the back and once they got inside found fire in the first floor near the front door.
Reports said there was a strong smell of lighter fluid in the building. Reports also said that only part of the building was wired for an alarm system. Damage is listed at $17,000.
Firefighters were also called to the building about 1:50 a.m. July 22 for a small fire which they quickly put out and did not cause much damage.
